A member of the Diabetes Coalition recently mentioned a theme of Knowledge is Power. I along with other members of the Coalition thought this was a great theme! As I pondered more about that statement, it occurred to me that Knowledge is also Survival! It’s important for everyone to know the signs of Type1 & Type 2 diabetes. It is also strongly recommended to get tested regularly, and to discuss your numbers with your Primary Care Physician.
Here are some of the common symptoms of Type 1 diabetes,
Sudden weight loss, Abnormal thirst and or persistent dry mouth, Frequent trips to the bathroom, Fatigue, Constant hunger, Blurred vision, and Bedwetting.
Here are some of the common symptoms of Type 2 diabetes,
Excessive thirst and dry mouth, Frequent trips to the bathroom, Tiredness, Slow healing cuts, scrapes or wounds, Recurrent infections in the skin, Blurred vision and Tingling or numbness in the hands and feet.
As I mentioned in my previous blog, Diabetes uncontrolled is now the number 1 cause of Blindness! The more you know about your numbers, the more you can control those numbers. Get your numbers checked and stay up to date on your A1C number. The power of Knowledge & Survival is available to you. Attend our upcoming Diabetes Expo or check out our website for upcoming Health Fairs. These events as well as discussions with your doctor, can help you to gain more Knowledge and Power to live life without diabetes or with controllable diabetes. The choice is yours….choose wisely!
Yours in Service,
Ron
